And it came to pass...



Hello. My name is Mark, and so having reached my 55th year on this planet I've decided to write a blog. I have tried in the past but lost interest. I might lose interest in this one. Who knows eh.

I do a few things in life quite well. I work for a large software company and I test stuff for a living. I think I do that reasonably well. Feedback is good anyway. I also play the bass guitar (amongst other instruments) and at present, enjoy a permanent bassist position with a local Soul Band. It's a fun thing to do and it's a hobby that pays for itself. How many people can say that they have that in their life eh. My other passion, and the primary focus if this blog is FOOD!

I've been a bit of a foodie since I was about 18 years old really. My first encounter with a real "recipe" was when I was sharing a house with friends in the early 80s in Sheffield. One of my friends was a rather nice chap called David. He was a few years older than me and had already started on the road to culinary success. He spent a lot of time in the kitchen doing some kind of weird alchemy with various ingredients and I got interested.. Well it smelt so nice what he was making. I tasted his lasagne and I was hooked. He taught me the recipe and the rest is history really. I started to get more and more interested and have been making nice food for myself and others ever since.

I think this is probably going to be a bit rambling and unstructured at first. It'll start off as a diary of food and music and I might get round to publishing a few of my recipes and some stuff about playing bass guitar and being in a band. As the great Sage Nike once said.. "Just do it". And so I will.

Here's to the start of something. Don't know how it'll end up but we'll see what happens. Glass half full and all that sort of thing.
